Servers Apollos and sMx are sometimes restarted after maintenance at the start of each month. Brief outage my be experienced why this 5 minute proceedure is carried out, normally in the early hours. You can identify which server your hosted account resides by looking in your cPanel. Uptime below indicates uptime for each server since last restart or sheduled maintenance.
What is an sMx?sMx is short for (Spare Mail eXchange). If your primary mail server (the server were your web site is located) is unavailable due to maintenace, network issue or extended data centre power outage. Our remote sMx (Spare Mail eXchange) backup mail spooler, collects all mail sent you whilst the primary mail server was unavailable. All your mail is collected by our sMx securely.
When your main mail server becomes available again the sMx will send all mail gathered during the down time to your primary mail server to be downloaded by you. We love it!
Most web hosts dont even give this issue a thought when servers are unavailable on a network.
